Mr. Julio Contreras - Principal
Mr. Contreras is a strong advocate for equity, multicultural education and rigorous learning. He brings close to 20 years of experience as an educator, including holding school leadership positions in Houma, Louisiana and as Principal Resident of John Amesse. He will be a champion in leading the DCISM team and families as we continue to provide high-quality academic achievement and cultural experiences for our students.

Mrs. Ria Gill - Assistant Principal
Mrs. Gill has lived in Colorado since she was four years-old and began her schooling in Denver Public Schools. She has Bachelor’s degrees in both Communications and English Writing, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Reading Certification, and TESOL all from the University of Colorado. She has a certification in K-12 Administrative Leadership from the University of Denver and a Special Education Mild Moderate Certification from Metropolitan State University. She has worked for Denver Public Schools since 2004 in varied positions – as a paraprofessional, special education teacher, general education teacher, interventionist, SAL, teacher effectiveness coach, dean, administrative intern, and most recently as an assistant principal. Mrs. Gill is the wife of a Denver Public Schools graduate and the proud mother of three Denver Public School graduates. She spends her free time going on dinner dates, golfing, having movie nights, and hiking/traveling with her husband, gardening, photographing whatever catches her eye, and walking her dog.
