Middle School Art
My name is Alicia Deselms and I am so excited to teach middle school visual arts another year at DCIS-M! I grew up in Los Angeles California and have been in Colorado for approximately three years. I love Denver, the mountains, and the surrounding communities, which is why I like to take long drives and explore. I attended Woodbury University and earned a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Architecture, and then received my Masters degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. I am currently in the beginning stages of working on my Doctorate and just finished my principal license. I have a great enthusiasm for education and am always working towards perfecting my practice as a teacher and facilitator. Nothing means more to me than building meaningful relationships with my students.
I am the wife of an incredible husband and real estate agent. He is my biggest supporter and adviser. I am also the mother of three beautiful children ages 11, 6, and 3. They keep me on my toes and make me realize how important my job is as a caretaker, mentor, and educator. As a parent, I want my kid's teachers to be passionate about them and give them the best they can. This is why am am passionate about all my students.
I love to have long dinners with friends and family and spend my extra time going on family outings. I enjoy traveling and lived in Barcelona Spain for a little while in college. My travels have given my classes an international flare and I encourage all my students to think beyond our school and surrounding community.
I am so happy to work in the Montbello community and I am eager to meet my students!
