Information on Today's Lockout

March 18, 2019

Dear DCIS Montbello Families,

We are committed to letting you know about incidents that affect our school and our community. Just before dismissal today, there were reports of someone with a weapon near our school. We placed the school on lockout and called the DPS Department of Safety and Denver police to investigate. Police searched the area. They found nothing.

A lockout means we lock exterior doors of our school and bring students and staff inside the building. Business inside the building continues as normal but we all must stay inside the building. The lockout was lifted about 10 minutes later once the Denver Police Department cleared the scene and deemed the area to be safe. This is standard protocol any time there is a police investigation in the area of our school.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Julio Contreras

Principal
