Important Message to Students & Families of DCISM (please read)

March 22, 2018

Dear DCIS Montbello Community,

I am writing to share my decision to retire from Denver Public Schools at the end of the 2017-18 school year. This was not an easy decision but I am relocating with my family out-of-state for my husband’s job.

It has been a tremendous honor to be part of the DCIS Montbello community for the past four years and to serve the children, families and educators of Denver Public Schools for the last 23 years. I began my career in DPS as a math teacher and have had the wonderful opportunity to lead three schools – Whiteman Elementary, Cole Arts & Sciences Academy and now DCISM – in my time here.

At DCISM, I am proud of the community we have created, with a focus on preparing our graduates to be global leaders and equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and beyond. I was honored to celebrate the success of our three graduating classes and look forward to graduating the class of 2018. I am confident our staff will continue to uphold and even deepen our focus on ensuring our students are multilingual and inter-culturally competent, and empowered to improve our increasingly complex world.

I will continue as your principal through the end of this school year and, during this time, I will be supporting in the search for our next school leader. We welcome input from students, families, educators and community members during this search, and I will be providing details after Spring Break.

Thank you all for your support and care of our students, our school and my leadership during these past four years. Please enjoy a restful and relaxing break next week, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
